Jerry was such a great guy.  I have known him for about four years now.  I met him at Mid Cities Bible church.  He always had a smile on his face.  He was a kind hearted and funny guy.  I miss him and can't wait to see him again in heaven.   Thank you Jerry for all the memories.  We miss you!

Jerrry was truly the greatest guy that I knew.  Every time that I saw him he was in a good mood.  Infact, the only time that I ever saw Jerry get upset was when we played volleyball together.  I met Jerry Don Self 7 years ago and I have considered him to be one of my very good friends.  I had just started to attend a new church in the D/FW area and I didn't have any friends, until I met Jerry.  He was very active in the youth group at Midcities Bible Church where we first met.  He welcomed me into the church and made me feel comfortable around people that I didn't know.

When I think of Jerry so many memories run through my head:
Food runs to Taco Bell during play rehersal, I think he ate more Taco Bell than anyone that I know.  Road trip to Kansas with the youth group. Going to see Brave Heart more times than I can remember.  Basketball at the White's house.  Playing volleyball for 8 hours straight.  Golf after school.  Introducing him to Natalie Williams at Boys Ranch.  Rollerblading at River Legacy.  Borrowing his suit for a banquet.  My senior Prom.
Project Graduation.  Jerry and Jake making a hole in the wall while wrestling in the youth building at Mid-Cities.  Singing our hearts out to George Straight any time we heard his songs, even sometimes when there were no songs on the radio to be sung.  The Big Green Scout that he loved and hated at the same time.   The list goes on...

Its amazing how many people Jerry Self touched.  Everyone that knew him, loved him. Jerry was the kind of guy that if he knew that you were in need of any kind, he did everything that he could to help.  I have heard it said that there is irony in his name.  Its true, there was nothing SELFish about him.

I will miss you Jerry, and I can'y wait to see you again in Heaven.

I have the honor and priviledge of saying the Jerry was indeed a true friend. Last year, he and Carl, came up to my room all the time, to watch South Park on wednesday nights, to play "NFL Blitz" on my old lady's playstation, or just to talk about anything. When people were looking for Jerry, they came first to our room, cause they knew he'd be there.  Jerry was a great guy.  We had great times together. We're gonna miss you Geronimo.

I didn't know Jerry, personally, but I did know him through his aunt, Pam Arthur.  She spoke so proudly of him that I, too, felt proud to know of him. He must have been one remarkable young man to have so many wonderful things said about him.  I certainly hope and pray he knew how much he was loved and admired!  Again, I didn't know him personally, but I certainly am sorry he is gone, never to be forgotten!

I knew Jerry from working with him at Office Max, my junior year. He had the most unforgettable smile.  His smile would light up my day.  He was so much fun to work with and he always looked out for everyone.  He was so kind and fun.  I loved his sense of humor.  He truly touched my heart. He will always hold a special place in my heart.  And we all have to remind ourselves that he is in a better place now and he's making heaven a better place and one day when it's our time we will see him again.  My heart goes out to
his family and to all his family, friends, and loved ones, I'll be praying and thinking
of all of you.

May God bless Jerry's family and friends with Peace and Tranquility within their hearts, minds and souls.

Jerry was an awesome guy to hang around with.  It didn't even matter what you were doing, Jerry always brought humor and life to the situation.  It was just his nature.  He loved to make people happy, I could tell because whenever he was around everyone was happy.  I had the privaledge of being in his bible study group at Sky Ranch.  We learned about evangelism and reaching out to others to share Christ with them.  This is exactly what
Jerry loved to do.  He had alot of friends, alot of people that loved him dearly.  I along with many others will truly miss him.

Jerry:  I write as if you receive this message directly.  I did not have the privilege of knowing you, but I know many fine young men and women just like you.  Dedicated to the Aggie spirit, dedicated to family, dedicated to country, and most of all, dedicated to God.  The tragedy that gripped you and the others will be felt by all Aggies for a very long time. But as deep as the hurt is for me and other Aggies, the pain experienced by
your immediately family is far worse.  May God shed His grace and love on your parents and other family members.  May God wrap His hands around them and hold them the way they want to hold you right now.  Hold you just one more time, hold you so they might tell you they love you just once more, hold you so they might be able to give you a good-bye kiss.  But God has you now.  We must be content knowing that our pain and loss is an earthly pain.  We must be content knowing that if you could talk to us, you would be
sharing your Heavenly love and comfort.  Holding us and giving us a good-bye kiss,
holding us and telling us that it is okay.  Life is a wonderful, yet, a fragile time.  Keep the Spirit.  May God be with us all!

I just met Jerry this semester and it has flown by- all to fast. I was able to know him well enough to know that it hurts so deeply to see him go.  I had a class with Jerry and always met him going to the stack (bonfire site).  It seems so odd to see him the day before and then never again.  I know that he is watching over us all and wishing us well.  His life, smile and caring nature will always be with everyone that knew him.  I just wish I had just one more day to hear his jokes and talk with him about the problem I still can't figure out. He was kind, caring and such a friend.  It will be hard to find someone that measures up to him.
Jerry--I wish you were here right now but since your not take care of Chad, Micheal, Nathan and Jeremy for me.  I know that all of you are looking down on us and making sure we follow through--just like all Aggies do.
Jerry's parents and family-- I know that words will not heal your pain nor will they heal mine.  But I lost five friends and I know that they are all watching over us as angels from above.
Jerry is a true Aggie as true as they can be.  He lifted my spirits each and everyday.  I hope that I can help you and try to lift your spirits like he did someday.
Love and Prayers,
-Lindsay Weichert (A&M '00), l_weichert@hotmail.com
Jerry came to our home to study with our son, Jeff.  One evening after he left I asked Jeff about him.  I was impressed with his good manners and friendly smile. I  just knew that he was someone special. We grieve for you and for your great loss.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
