Heading into the last week of the regular season, there are still many first round possibilities for the Lamar Vikings and the other teams in District 4-6A. Here’s a look at what’s at stake this week heading into the 2015 state playoffs…
Thursday Night (District 4-6A)
Sam Houston @ Lamar
Paschal @ Arlington
Weatherford @ Bowie
Friday Night (District 3-6A)
Midland Lee @ Midland
Abilene @ Odessa
Permian @ San Angelo Central
Lamar’s game vs. Sam Houston on Thursday has no effect on playoff seeding.
Viking fans should keep an eye on the score of the Bowie vs. Weatherford game. With a Bowie win, Lamar will be the top seed in Division II and face San Angelo Central (most likely scenario), Abilene, or Midland. If the Volunteers are left out of the playoff picture, Lamar will bump up to the second seed in Division I and face Odessa Permian.
Martin is locked into District 4’s Division I representative. The Warriors will play the winner of Friday night’s game between Midland Lee vs. Midland.
Bowie is in the playoffs with a win over Weatherford on Thursday night. In the playoffs, Bowie would be the second seed in Division 1 and face Odessa Permian.
The easiest route for Arlington to make the playoffs is a Colts win and a Weatherford loss. In that case, Arlington would be the second seed in Division 2 with a likely first round matchup vs. Abilene.
The Kangaroos look to be the odd man out in District 4-6A’s playoff picture. Weatherford would need a win over Bowie and an Arlington loss to Paschal to reach the final spot. In the event of Arlington and Weatherford wins, there would be a three-way tie between the Colts, Kangaroos, and Volunteers.
