Varsity Preview

The Series: The Vikings lead the series, 36-9, and have won the last 14 meetings. Lamar also owns a 19-3 edge at Wilemon Field, where the Texans have not defeated the Vikings since 1984.

 

Two Weeks Ago: Lamar overcame a sluggish start and rallied past Keller Central, 31-28, while Sam Houston edged Fort Worth Wyatt, 17-13.  

 

District Openers: Lamar is 35-10 in district openers, having won four of its last five. Sam Houston is 22-29-2 in district openers, but has won four of its last six.

 

Many Happy Returns: Lamar’s Kolby Underwood returned the second-half kickoff 105 yards for a touchdown against Keller  Central, the longest kick off return in Arlington ISD history.

 

1K QB: Lamar quarterback Chance Fuller is 87 yards away from surpassing 1000 career yards. Fuller has thrown for 728 yards in his first three varsity starts this season, leading both District 4-6A in passing yards.

 

Big Play Offense: The Lamar passing attack has completed seven plays over 45 yards this season. Eight players have caught passes over three games, led by junior WR Dayton Dubs with seven receptions for 177 yards. Both Dubs and senior RB Rashod Polk are tied with the longest plays of the season of 64 yards.

 

Defensive Standouts: Senior LBs Jalan Mcdonald (43 tackles) and Kyron Johnson (4.0 sacks) lead the way for the Vikings on the defensive side of the ball. They are backed up by senior DBs Kolby Underwood (1 INT/3 PBUs) and Devon Wright (2 INTs/1 PBU).
